what is the format for the wake?

Although we may have variations from event to event and feature special performances and surprises from time to time, you can expect the general format to be an hour long pre-dance yoga session led by a certified yoga instructor, followed by a 2-hour dance party with live DJ's.

Is the wake a fitness class?

Aside from the built in pre-dance yoga session (although we do have parties without a pre-dance fitness component) and an occasional demo from a dance fitness instructor, we wouldn't really consider The Wake a fitness class. We're more like an early morning dance party, literally. Think about a nightclub, except at the break of dawn without the alcohol, drugs and drama. We have live DJ's, and an open dance floor for you to come and boogie to your hearts content. 


Since we don't sell alcohol at our events, ticket sales allow us to bring you the best possible experience from top notch yoga instructors to DJ's to facilities and vendors, much like you would pay a drop-in fee for a fitness class, or a registration fee to a 5K run. 

is there an age limit?

Participants must be adults of at least 18 years of age to ensure safety amongst all participants. We may host all-ages events from time to time.

what is the frequency of the wake?

These morning dance parties occur on a monthly basis. As we grow as a community and movement, and depending on feedback and demand, we do envision increasing frequency and locations, as well as hosting larger scale dance parties on a quarterly basis.
